Dermal fillers are injectable gels that temporarily add more fullness and plumps thin lips—whether your lips have thinned over time or you simply want fuller lips— in adults over the age of 21.
These gels are approved for smoothing and correcting moderate to severe parentheses lines, such as nasolabial folds (smile lines around the nose and mouth), in adults.
They can last up to one year or more with optimal treatment.
Are there any post treatment instructions?
Limit strenuous exercise and exposure to extensive sun or heat within the first 24 hours following treatment. Exposure to any of these may cause temporary redness, swelling, and/or itching at the injection site.
Can anyone get these injections?
Almost everyone.
I don’t want large lips with my filler injections, can I just have a little in my lips?
Yes. Our goal is to make your lips to look natural and plump. If that is your goal, we’re definitely on the same page.
I want large lips, can you give me those?
Yes, if that is your aesthetic.
Tell Dr. Cespedes before treatment if you are using substances that can prolong bleeding, such as aspirin, ibuprofen, or other prescribed blood thinners. As with any injection, this may result in increased bruising or bleeding at the injection site. Don’t stop prescribed medication unless directed to by your physician.
Tell Dr. Cespedes if you have a history of excessive scarring (thick, hard scars) or pigmentation disorders. The safety of these products has not been studied in these patients and may result in additional scars or changes in pigmentation
Does it hurt?
Yes, a little. We give a numbing cream and at times a numbing injection or cold air to reduce the discomfort.
Side effects?
Possible side effects include site injection pain, redness, bruising, bleeding and uneven distribution of the product. Some clients get nodules over the injection site. Most of these nodules are temporary but rarely they may become permanent.
Another potential side effect from fillers is when the filler is absorbed over the year, there can be loose skin where the filler was.
There is the possibility of serious, rare side effects such as
unintentional injection into a blood vessel or compression of a blood vessel. This usually happens immediately and there are treatments for it. Sometimes it happens up to 24 hours later. If the area becomes white, see us immediately or go to the Emergency Room. The chances of this happening are very small, but if it does happen, the complications can be serious and may be permanent. There are rare complications, which have been reported for facial injections, can include vision abnormalities, blindness, stroke, temporary scabs, loss of blood supply to the tissues or permanent scarring of the skin.
Who will be performing my injections?
Dr. Cespedes will be performing the treatment. He is a cautious expert in these types of injections.

1 syringe of product may costs $825 to $1000 at Key West Med Spa. The cost is the same if we use a little or the whole syringe.
