Varicose and spider veins can be unsightly and irritating to the legs. Compression stockings and surgical procedures don’t always offer the results desired. Fotona has developed a nonsurgical treatment for small varicose veins and spider veins which is an excellent option for a lot of people.
Varicose Veins often occur in the legs, but can be present anywhere on the body, including the face. The reason they are most commonly found on the legs is that the legs are furthest from the heart and the veins and muscles of the legs must overcome gravity to pump the blood out of the legs. Over time this may need to varicose or spider veins in the legs. Some people get the veins on the face if they have rosacea or for no reason at all.
We use the Fotona Dynamis Laser to penetrate deep enough in the skin to reach the blood vessel. The Laser energy coagulates the vessel without damaging the overlying skin or surrounding tissue. The body then heals like it would from a bruise. There may some mild snapping discomfort to the skin during the procedure. To help with the discomfort , we use a cooling system.
Adverse Treatment Effects
Sometimes the skin above the veins gets irritated. This is especially common in skin of the face. There will probably be redness and drying in the skin of the face for 4-5 days. This can be soothed with aloe vera gel or hydrocortisone cream, both available at your local pharmacy.
Also laser vein treatments, as any vein treatments are not a forever cure. A 70% reduction in vein reduction over 3 sessions, is a reasonable goal.
Pre and Post Treatment Instructions
No makeup in the area.
Ace bandaging may help for 3 days after the initial treatment. Avoid hot baths and exercise for 3 days after treatment to prevent the veins from opening up again.
Aloe vera gel may help sooth the skin if needed. Avoid prolonged standing for the first 3 days after the procedure.
