Anti-Snoring Treatment with Fotona NightLase
This is a painless anti snoring laser treatment to the back of the mouth to reduce or eliminate the severity of your snoring. Anti snoring Laser Treatment are performed in the office and take approximately 30 minutes. There are usually 4 treatments recommended with up to a 75% reduction in snoring with the first treatment. People are usually highly satisfied with the results. You bed-partner will be happy too!
Pre and post treatment instructions: Download a snore app on your phone and record your sleep for a night or 2 prior to your appointment. This step is not imperative but it can give you a good baseline to compare. This also proves that you snore and your bed-partner is right.
Don’t drink alcohol the night before your appointment and don’t drink caffeine the morning of your appointment. Drinking these may make your mouth less moist, and make your procedure less comfortable. During your treatment, you will have your mouth wide open with breaks to swallow or spit. There is no numbing medication needed. After the procedure, your throat might feel dry or feel like you drank coffee that was too hot. This is normal for 1 or 2 days after the treatment. Treatments should be set up monthly for 4 months, then once a year for maintenance. For those who have sleep apnea, this treatment is not a substitute for a sleep apnea mouthpiece or cpap or bipap mask. We request you get approval from your sleep apnea physician if you have sleep apnea. They may need to be retest you for sleep apnea after the procedures to change your cpap settings.

There is more space to breath through the back of the throat and therefore less noise. Patient reported less snoring after 2 simple quick treatments. There was slight heating sensation during treatment and there was no pain after treatment. Usually 3-5 Treatments are needed. The treatments are usually separated by 4-6 weeks.
Again, Dr. Cespedes recommends you see your physician to have your risk for sleep apnea assessed. Even though most sleep apnea is associated with snoring, not all sleep apnea is. Even if the NightLase completely relieves you of your snoring, you may still have sleep apnea, and need additional treatment. Only your physician can assess your risk.
